Green Lawn Care: Three Key Considerations

What goes into innovative and ecological lawn care and property services?

Here’s some of the thinking behind offering the best philosophy of business for these kinds of outdoor services, in an age where ecology matters. And we know that it does matter. That’s why we’re putting extra effort into updating what we do for customers.

Vehicles

Simply put, companies like ours need to look at the carbon footprint of our vehicles and figure out how to optimize it by shrinking it. Conservation is a big deal nowadays, not just in our field, but anywhere that people use vehicles for business. Fuel economy standards are supposed to be part of that, but at the end of the day, no one else is going to do all of it for you!

Sometimes, that planning for fuel economy models means an investment in newer vehicles that have better fuel economy. Sometimes it means consolidating routes or otherwise conserving mileage. Either way, we’re in the office trying to figure this stuff out.

Equipment

The same holds true here. Equipment is a big question mark (?) when it comes to the ecology of lawn services.

A friend of ours said it well the other day: “if you’re not upgrading and keeping up with the best technology, you’re losing out, and so are your customers. And everybody else, too.”

So that’s part of our strategic maintenance of our business with savings both economic and ecological that we pass on to you.

Training

Then there’s training.

A good outdoor services company has to train people well to work on new models that promote ecology and a natural balance for the planet. That may go so far as to research pollinators and native species, and really draw on horticultural knowledge to build a better service model. You could call it a kind of “bespoke” property maintenance, but really, that’s not the point. It’s about protecting our environment and responding to the ways in which it is vulnerable.
